The ShodaiKongu (初代コング?) is the King Kong suit design used in the 1962 Godzilla film, King Kong vs. Godzilla.
Name[]
The ShodaiKongu's name comes from shodai (初代?), meaning first generation, and Kongu, which comes from King Kong's Japanese name, Kingu Kongu (キングコング?).
Detail[]
The ShodaiKongu's body was modified from the Snowman suit, looking almost exactly the same in appearance save for the head, which was reworked to look more like King Kong, and the knees and belly, which were covered in fur. covered in short, brown fur except for the chest, face, feet and hands, where its skin color was gray. Suffice to say, the suit had gorilla-like features, such as a large mouth lined with almost rounded teeth inside the lips, a short nose, regularly-sized eyes, and a pointy tip-of-the-head. It had five fingers and toes, with wider arms than legs, and lacking a tail.
The ShodaiKongu suit was recycled in 1966 for the monster Goro in Ultra Q.
For King Kong Escapes, the ShodaiKongu's body was modified to look like the GoroKongu's and was used for water scenes.
