History
Godzilla vs. Megalon
Jet Jaguar was created by Goro Ibuki and would be stolen by the people of Seatopia to lead Megalon. Jet would eventually be recovered by Ibuki and would gain sentience, reaching Godzilla and calling him to battle against Gigan and Megalon. With their teamwork, Jet Jaguar and Godzilla were able to win the day.
Random/Useless Facts
Jet Jaguar would be portrayed by both Tsugutoshi Komada and Masachika Mori, both of these being their first and only time they've ever portrayed a Godzilla kaiju
Jet Jaguar's creation would be from a monster design campaign called the Children Monster University that went from December of 1971 to January of 1972, the winner being called Red Alone made by Masaaki Sano
The Red Alone suit that was made differed completely in terms of colour, having a red, yellow and blue colour scheme rather than the original white colour
In the 1972 draft of Godzilla vs. Megalon, Red Alone was changed to a robot, being described as a sharp figure. This would be scrapped and eventually Red Alone would be changed into Jet Jaguar
Concept art of Jet Jaguar is often considered to be created by Akihiko Iguchi, however Iguchi had denied any involvement with Godzilla vs. Megalon, and thus his true designer most likely will never be found out
Teruyoshi Nakano was reluctant to remake Red Alone into Jet Jaguar due to the fact that he believed there were too many Ultraman inspired beings, but was inspired to do so to make Jet deliberately unattractive and obnoxious
Originally the film was only meant to be Jet Jaguar vs. Megalon, however Toho didn't believe that Jet Jaguar had enough star power and thus they included Godzilla and Gigan in the film
In the comic adaptation of Godzilla vs. Megalon, like Gigan, Jet Jaguar was renamed to Robotman. His role in the story is a significantly simplified version of his one in the film with the humans
Jet Jaguar has appeared in several different video games such as the 1993 Godzilla arcade game, the Pipeworks trilogy, Generations, PS4, Kaiju Collection, Trading Battle and even the Pinball game
Like with video games, Jet Jaguar has appeared in a few different comic books such as Rulers of Earth, Godzilla Rivals and the Godzilla Comic
In a Germen release of Godzilla vs. Megalon, Jet Jaguar is referred to as King Kong in the title. A widespread misconception about this is that in the film Jet is said to be a gorilla wearing a robot suit
In the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of the robots is named Jet Alone. Alongside the design somewhat resembling Jet Jaguar, the name could be a reference to the original name, Jet Alone
Jet Jaguar was originally not meant to appear in the Godzilla PS4 video game, however, when Shunsuke Fujita, producer of the game, walked into his office and saw Jet on screen, he simply couldn't say no
The original title of issue 7 of Godzilla: Rulers of Earth was PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH, an obvious reference to the song, Godzilla and Jet Jaguar: Punch! Punch! Punch!, although this would be changed to Viva Jet Jaguar
The novel Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse has a reference to Jet Jaguar, although it was Jet specifically. In the story, a battle armour named Type-38 Mobile Combat Uniform Jaguar Japan Specification, or Jaguar J for short, was created
Jet Jaguar is one of the giant robots that appears available for selection after clearing the Black Tiger-themed second gate of Anorak's quest in the book Ready Player One
Toho released a trailer on their official YouTube channel about a Jet Jaguar movie in 2019. Though some may have been excited, this trailer was created as an April Fools
Like how the German dub of the film called Jet Jaguar King Kong, a version of the Spanish dub names Jet Jaguar Superman for seemingly no reason
Jet Jaguar (Singular Point)
Kinda like the design
Height: 5.4 metres/17.7 feet
History
Godzilla Singular Point
Jet Jaguar would be seen in the Monster's Festival when a Rodan appeared. After the fight, Jet would be upgraded and battle Anguirus before getting even larger and facing off against the Kumongas. Jet Jaguar's AI grew as well, eventually both his size and AI growing to face off and defeat Godzilla.
Random/Useless Facts
Though there was no suit actors due to animation, Jet Jaguar had a couple voice actors, Rie Kugimiya in the Japanese dub, Kira Buckland in the English dub and Corinne Martin in the French dub
This version of Jet Jaguar has only featured in two video games so far, those being Godzilla Battle Line and Godzilla Singular Point: Escape!! Radio Wave Monster Rodan!
Unlike the original incarnation of the character, this Jet Jaguar is an enemy to Godzilla, being the only incarnation of Jet Jaguar to do so including the comic series
This version of Jet Jaguar is not only the first to be able to properly speak but also the first incarnation to be confirmed to be destroyed in the end
And that's Jet Jaguar, an absolute chad amongst chads. I like the Singular Point design and the speaking but the OG will always be the best. What are your thoughts on Jet Jaguar?
Next up is Kong and then Godzilla himself.
