[WARNING] if you don’t like the application of physics in the same category as gravity being applied to your kaiju, do not read any further!

So all or most of you know Showa Gigan and we know what he can do in a fight. He uses his chainsaw stomach to rip open kaiju and his hooks to lightly slap his opponents. Well what if I told you he should be a lot more powerful. No, this is not from his explosive liquids as seen in Zone Fighter or something which was never used. It’s not even because of his chainsaw. It’s because of his claws! You may ask, “but how,” and to I will tell you why. So the reason is the shape of Showa Gigan’s claw. You see that hook that curves into a point? Well if real physics were taken into account, all of the force concentrated in that point due to the blades shape and the force and extra momentum of his arm would be a devastating weapon, probably on par with something like Kong’s Axe. There is a slight problem, that being that they have a slight curve inwards which would make hitting with the tip a bit more difficult, though Showa Gigan could just bend his arm or wrist (if he has the later of the two) so the point it there. Also keep in mind that hitting with the point isn’t needed to deal damage with lots of force but it won’t gather as much force.

Now as for Gigan as seen in FW, he’s got a better shape to his claws, though they are different. When looking at them compared to Showa Gigan, they are a lot thinner and shaped like a war scythe as opposed to the other’s war pick. This mean that (due to just less mass) he wouldn’t hit as hard, though it still shouldn’t be something to laugh at. One pro is that they chop more, though this may not be a pro against other kaiju as most have armor and blades don’t usually do as well against armor as opposed to weapons that concentrate force or deal blunt damage. I don’t think the extra hooks are necessary needed though.
As for the chain saw version, it looks edgy and epic but for going against armored opponents (aka, most kaiju but a select few), they probably won’t do at much. Maybe if they can cut through anything or something but I’m pretty sure they don’t.

I also want to say that the M.U.T.O.s also has a similar concentration of force effect with their hooked claws (Gigan as a reanimated M.U.T.O. corpse if in the MV maybe at some point?). Unfortunately, they aren’t as greatly shaped. They face inwards so the M.U.T.O.s have to move their wrist quite a bit to stab things or pull towards themselves which isn’t as ideal because that means you have to hook your opponents, meaning that (using common sense) they have you in a place where you can’t defend yourself (at least that’s what comes to mind, I might be wrong). This wasn’t a problem due to the double team though. That’s also how the M.U.T.O.s hurt Godzilla so badly because when they attack, they go up and just smash in their claws, a deadly strategy for sure.
Unfortunately, M.U.T.O. Prime lacks this deadly train for not-as-powerful fingers. But that’s it, I wanted to make a post about Gigan’s deadly weapons and the M.U.T.O.s’ claws so I did. I hope you enjoyed, goodbye.
