Godzilla: The Series

In Godzilla: The Series, we were introduced to Cameron Winter - a former college rival to Nick Tatopoulos and the owner of Solstice Technologies; acting as a "Lex Luthor"-type foe to H.E.A.T and Godzilla (Zilla Junior).

While he would later try to kill Godzilla - initially with the Chameleon and later the Lizard Slayers - in order to make a large profit (along with trying to kill Nick and the H.E.A.T team in the process if he could), his first plan involved implanting a neurotransmitter into Godzilla's inner ear to control him; using the now mind-controlled reptile to attack the military (clients of Solstice Technologies) in order to get the contract to replace all the damaged/destroyed weaponry and make a profit for himself.

However, he also revealed plans about "creating an arsenal of Godzillas, both as weapons of mass destruction but mainly as his own personal cash cow".

Assuming H.E.A.T failed to stop him (Winter managing to have them "disposed of") and he was able to make an army of Godzillas - each having the same powers and abilities due to been clones and each been mind controlled via the neurotransmitters - then how do you think the rest of the series would play out with Cameron Winter effectively "holding the reigns"?

- Would the Tachyon invasion fail/be prevented entirely?

- Would Monster Island still be set up?

- Would any mutation - be it from Earth or Space - survive?

- Would the D.R.A.G.M.A.s still rise to create an apocalyptic future?

While most of the monsters from Godzilla: The Series had names that were good, decent or at least serviceable, there sadly were a lot of monsters in the show which had more generic names; usually consisting of "Giant" [Animal], "Mutant" [Animal], a combination of the two or just had a basic description of the creatures.

The following is a list of those mutations (albeit just the ones fought by Godzilla/Zilla Junior and H.E.A.T that we saw on screen):

As such, if you could rename some/all of them to give them better sounding names, what would you call them?

I'll be adding my own ideas later, but curious to see what you guys come up with.

DISCLAIMER:

I know Godzilla: The Series (1998-2000) exists, but it's based on the 1998 film, so personally I don't count it as Godzilla in my opinion. This what if you would imagine would be set between 1994 to 1997.

How would you imagine a 90s Godzilla Animated Show? Would be an American animated series akin to Batman: The Animated Series (1992-95)? Or would it be an Anime series? What Kaiju, pre-existing and new could you see appear? Go crazy in the replies below.

For those who don't know what I mean, the beginning of the 2001 film GMK not only has Admiral Tachibana reference the events of the 1954 Godzilla movie, but also has him refer to the events of the 1998 GODZILLA movie as he talks about a similar monster attacking New York - with two officers listening to the Admiral's speech quietly having this conversation about the creature:

Soldier #1: "That one was Godzilla, right?"

Soldier #2: "The Americans think so, but our guys here have some doubts".

Ultimately, that was the extent of the integration between the GMK and TriStar timelines, with no mention of any surviving offspring or either of the events from the animated series that took place in Japan (that been King Cobra's attack on Tokyo and Cyber-Zilla's rampage during the Taychon Invasion).

However, what if the events of the animated series had happened in the GMK timeline as well - with Zilla Junior surviving and, with H.E.A.T, traveling around the world to fight other monsters.

As such, when 2001 rolls around and the "real" Godzilla makes his return - along with the three 'Guardian Beasts' (Baragon, Mothra and King Ghidorah) awakening to fight him - how do you think the whole situation would change with Zilla Junior, H.E.A.T and potentially Dr. Ifukube's repaired Robo-Yeti entering the mix - especially with both Zilla Junior and Godzilla been 60 meters tall but with Zilla Junior been 30,000 tons heavier?

= Would it end up with Zilla Junior and possibly Robo-Yeti joining forces with the Guardian Beasts against Godzilla?

= Would it descend into a 'Battle Royale', with Zilla Junior treating all the monsters as enemies to be bested and Dr. Ifukube retaining her original belief that all monsters must be destroyed?

= Could something unexpected happen, such as some of the vengeful spirits inside Godzilla potentially possessing Zilla Junior if given the chance; turning him into an unwilling "ally/subordinate" of Godzilla against the JSDF and Guardian Beasts (especially since the GMK Godzilla is more supernatural)?

= A combination of the above or something entirely different?

In 2007, Toho registered a new "Zilla" trademark, which declared that any subsequent appearances of the 1998 character and, by extension, the version from Final Wars, will be under the name "Zilla."

My thoughts:

In Godzilla: the Series, he was addressed as "Godzilla," meaning Toho's rule would change his name to "Zilla," therefore not allowing the series to continue. I feel dumb for not noticing this until today.

Godspeed Zilla Jr.

This should have been based on a 90s animated series, maybe by Bruce Timm and the guys behind the DC Animated Universe. But sadly, that will never happen. 😔

But if it did happen:

How many episodes and/or seasons would you think it had?

What kids' channel would it air on?

Would it be better than Godzilla: The Series?

Let me know your thoughts on this rarely talked about subject matter.

This is purely hypothetical, but I felt it might be fun to brainstorm what we would have liked to see in the series if it had continued.

Here's a few ideas from myself:

01. More references to Toho kaiju/other giant monsters: The show did this pretty well, with references to many of Toho's roster as well as monsters from American movies like The Black Scorpion (Ts Eh Go) and The Thing (The DNA Mimic) among others.

As such, getting some more references in there with other giant monsters could be pretty fun to see. Heck, I'd even like to see references to Zone Fighter and "SpaceGodzilla" if they could pull it off.

02. Mothra and King Ghidorah: According to Sci-Fi Japan, both of these monsters were intended to appear in the series as they were, which would have been great to see Godzilla (GTS) taking on the King of Terror with Mothra as a potential ally. Assuming they could get Toho to agree on the series designs (which was the main reason neither were included), you could maybe include them as part of a "Destroy All Monsters"-style storyline with the Tachyons returning for "Round Two" - which Nick warned about at the end of the Monster Wars Trilogy.

03. More recurring human villains: While we got a fair few human villains in the show, most were "one-and-done" types like S.C.A.L.E, Dr. Hugh Trevor (Deadloch) and Maximilian Spiel (Cash of the Titans) - with Cameron Winter and the Hunters (Cat and Mouse/Lizard Season) been among the few repeat threats.

While it'd be fine to see more of Cameron Winter and S.C.A.L.E, another potential threat could be a "Red Bamboo" or "A World with No Boundaries"-type organization; utilizing cutting-edge technology with Mecha and giant monster creation/control and with "recruits" from all over the world.

04. Re-imagine scrapped Toho movies as episodes: This might be a way to salvage some films from Toho's "cutting room" that had potential and make them into new episodes; giving those unused ideas a new lease of life.

Those are my ideas, but I'm curious to see what you guys come up with.

-A chemical that screws up GTS Godzilla's eyes only makes El Gusano Gigante grow even larger.

• Powers/Attacks: Chemical Clubbed Tail; Extraordinary Leaper; Underground Burrowing

• Weaknesses: Atomic Ray

Bagorah:

• Height: 328 ft/100 m

• Length: 656 ft/200 m

• Mass: 65,000 metric tons

• Notable feats:

-Capable of hearing sounds on the planet in a vacuum of space.

-Can survive atmospheric entry.

-Also unaffected by conventional weaponry.

-Crashed into countless buildings and recovered instantly.

-Is immune to Cybersaur's arsenal.

-Survived to point-blank atomic ray blasts from Godzilla.

• Powers/Attacks: Auditory Sensitivity; Flight; Interstellar Travel; Sonic Beams; Sonic Waves

• Weaknesses: Sonic Disruption

Godzillasaurus (Heisei era):

• Height: 40 ft/12 m

• Length: 65 ft/20 m

• Mass: 60 metric tons/66 tons

• Powers: Adept Swimmer; Armored Skin; Powerful Bite; Radiation Absorption; Sharp Claws & Teeth; Tail Swipe; Telepathy

• Weaknesses: Lack of healing factor and long-range attacks.

• Feats:

-Is unaffected by high-caliber rifles and missiles from rocket launchers.

-Can knock down tall trees.

-Survived massive amounts of damage from American battleships' artillery and recovered from it within unknown period of time.

-Absorbed radiation from crashed nuclear submarine and mutated into 80-meter tall Godzilla.

VS

Godzilla Junior (Juvenile from New Family):

• Height: 35 ft/10 m

• Length: 58 ft/17 m

• Mass: Est. 20 metric tons/22 tons

• Powers: Adept Swimmer; Atomic Ray; Burrowing; Extraordinary Leaper; Intelligence; Super Regeneration; Tail Swipe

• Weaknesses:

-Not entirely immune to conventional weaponry.

-Rather weak atomic ray.

• Feats:

-Destroyed a small boat by swimming into it at high speed.

-Broke apart metal cage, designed to trap his human-sized self.

-Send NIGEL flying with tail swipe.

-Picked up a car and threw it away.

-Able to evade missiles from some distance.

-Atomic Ray was able to knock down a helicopter, but otherwise left it unharmed.

-Rocket launchers were able to cause large wounds which weren't mortal to him.

-Barrage of missiles that created 20-meter mushroom cloud knocked him out, but failed to kill him.

So, which one of mini versions of Godzilla would win against one another. Will Godzillasaurus finally prevail in the fight after losing to DAM Varan and Beast Titan, or will Godzilla Junior have another win after beating Megalon, Megaguirus and MV Godzilla as an adult. I'm personally leaning towards Godzillasaurus.

Onibaba (Pacific Rim):

• Height: 188 ft/57.03 m

• Mass: 68,980 tons

• Powers: Amphibiousness; Caustic Blood; Crustacean Physiology; Increased Stability; Pincer Claws; Pressurized Seawater Spray; Split Jaws; Super Durability & Leaping; Toxic Plating Spikes; Underwater Breathing

• Weaknesses: Is very slow and has problems with walking through narrow spaces; Underbelly and neck are confirmed to be his weak spots.

Crustaceous Rex:

• Height: 180 ft/54.86 m

• Mass: 37,000 tons

• Powers: Amphibiousness; Blinding Ink Vomit; Constricting Tentacles; Immobilizing Tar Projectile; Meat Digestion; Super Leaping & Agility; Tentacle Regeneration

• Weaknesses: Decreased stability due to having only two legs; Seemingly inferior compared to his opponent in terms of durability

• Feats:

-Killed and impregnated seventeen (17) Godzillas throughout her life.

-Is responsible for death of Dagon, Titanus Gojira specimen of characteristic similar to Pre-2019 Godzilla.

-Knocked 90 000-ton Godzilla away with one punch.

-Destroyed all 89 of Godzilla 2014's dorsal plates.

-Crushed submarine in her jaws.

-Swam too fast for Godzilla to catch her.

--Godzilla swims at the speed of 40 knots.

-Was still alive after Godzilla used radiation steam attack on her.

• Height: Est. 350 ft/106.68 m

• Mass: 135 000 tons

• Powers: Nuclear Energy Absorption; Parthenogenesis; Retractable Ovipositors; Shockwave Punch; Spiked Outer Shell; Ultrasonic Scream; Underground Digging; Underwater Combat

• Weaknesses: Face seems to be the weak point, abandoning the fight with Godzilla after he claws it and later being killed after he stomps at it; Her build makes it hard for her to get up after landing on back

Godzilla (The Series):

• Feats:

-Is unfazed by assault from tanks.

-Although electricity is his weakness, he can resist it to some degree.

-Fought aquatic monster underwater.

-Can send monsters of comparable stats flying with atomic breath.

-Comparable, if not superior in speed to his father.

• Height: Scaled to 300 ft/91.44 m

• Length: Scaled to 450 ft/137.16 m

• Mass: Remains as 60 000 tons

• Powers: Amphibiousness; Atomic Flame Breath; Climbing; Intelligence; Powerful Jaws; Sharp Claws; Super Agility, Speed, Durability & Regeneration; Underground Digging; Underwater Breathing & Combat

• Weaknesses: Dehydration; Electricity; Poison

• Weaknesses: Is purely made out electricity, which renders him vulnerable to being absorbed/His body explodes with the contact with flames.
