@Baragon What do you mean only three characters returned in Planet Eater? Everyone bar those who died in City returned, and even those who died were referenced, lol. The cast didn't shrink between films, randomly.
Talking from the pure perspective of a cohesive story, the anime still wins, IMO. Even if I liked or hated the films. The trio as a result of being made by the same people are all pieces of a proper puzzle as the MonsterVerse should've been.
The characters that mattered had a proper focus and arc to follow that the screenwriters were able to focus on. Because they decided a three film arc and were able to realize it themselves ensuring it meant something. It's all their story. Metphies for example AS the example, has a really good trio of films to build him up as an antagonist that means something. And a lot of foreshadowing you only get in hindsight because the writers knew what to do with it, and when.
Compare that to the MonsterVerse, where, two films into the Godzilla side of things, we're already getting rid of established characters, not fulfilling a proper arc, or doing anything worthwhile with them. I don't think I need to spoil who got wasted, but the ripple effects in just getting rid of good characters goes far beyond KotM. To GvK, and any potential sequel that may have. And not only that, but it also shows the stark contrast in series. One is made by the same group, keeping a consistent tone and arc moving forward. Resulting in the cohesive narrative. The other series is disjointed. And doesn't have a consistent tone, wildly inconsistent "grounding" in terms of what monsters can do, and a lack of proper arcing characters. Because what one screenwriter wants will vary from the original, and so on.
From a character perspective, the anime didn't waste their characters. The MonsterVerse entirely did. And it sucks. Because every film will subsequently act as a pseudo reboot as a result if they do it. Because the cast by the next film will vary. And I can't get attached to people if we're just cast shifting every film. And there's no growth as a result. Feel the anime has better characters as a result.
Interesting, indeed. But yeah, hardcore nuked it. Still miffed I waited five years for a sequel that made the 2014 film I enjoyed irrelevant within its own series. I got juked. Anime best, as a result.
Hey, a post appreciating the anime. Sleek. Entirely agree. MonsterVerse could've been strong, but KotM nuked potential. And the anime straight up capitalized on it, even if it was disliked.
Given I answered them, no. You won't be the only one.
How dare ye assume genders. I must smite thee. Prepare to die.
I'm the all seeing eye watching over you. You didn't know I existed. I knew you existed, however. Meep.
1.) It's a thing. Not good or bad, just a thing, lel. It doesn't feel special, which is good.
2.) I do. It's fun editing and stuff. I also like meeting the people behind the community. Not to sound like a CORNBALL, lmao.
3.) Probably City on the Edge of Battle.
4.) The current era.
6.) Godzilla Earth.
7.) Destoroyah. He's basically the O2 destroyer personified.
No problem, and hello to you.
Glad to know you'd wanna be one, Baragon! I don't know if you have any prior experience moderating, but I think we all start somewhere, regardless. The ruleset's pretty self-explanatory here. Keep order, delete troll-y posts, the like. Discussion mods can only delete posts, they can't ban users as far as I know, so if you need a ban, just message me. It's pretty rare already, though. Bagan's been a mod for some time, so if you have questions, you can obviously go to him, or me. As of now, you're now a discussion mod.
Nothing in specific, just dipped in. And yeah, I got the joke.
Senior council? That’s something new, lol.
This fandom is nowhere near 17+. Simple. Given the content of the series ranges from preschoolers to adults, that's the sort of fandom we run. It's not some hyper mature thing and we're not gonna segregate based on age. Obviously we won't super-censor everybody, some slack is given on certain words, but rape threats are entirely unacceptable. Be respectful and use common sense when making comments. You wouldn't say this stuff in mixed company, and not when you don't have internet anonymity.
@Gojifan1975 As a moderator, Bagan has the authority to make and enforce rules based on his own judgement and the rules of the wiki/Fandom ToU. Obviously, I'm sometimes the final hammer there, but I chose him for a reason to be fitting of this role. As a general user, you don't get to tell people who're in power positions about what they can and cannot do.
No need to thank me. Thank you for showing interest in wanting to help! It's very much appreciated. More than you'll know.
I've made you a Discussions moderator, now. So you basically have my powers of deleting poor posts and the like, clean sweeping if you need to. I don't think you can ban users, but if you need to, just message me.
It's nothing to be sorry over, I took the workload by choice, lol. Just need help with it. I'm fine with making you a mod since you seem fine and rational. But that's only if you 100% want to. I don't want to force you into this position. Even though I know you show interest, you may decide not to because of fine reasons. Stuff happens, lol.
Basically me, and I can't be here 24/7. The few others I've promoted are inactive or just gone, and I've had to demote them.
