Sometimes I can hear from Goji fans something like "SpaceGodzilla will appear in Monster verse!",or "I waiting spinoff about Rodan".Today I gonna answer,why TOHO kiajues WON'T appear in Monster verse.
First at all, Copyright.
Today legendary have no copyrights for ANY of TOHO kiajues.Just remember only story of Mothra appearance in "Godzilla & Kong:NEW EMPERIE".It was that difficult to buy copyright for Mothra,so the studio even came up with its own kaiju to replace her in case of bad luck.Legendary don't want problems,right?
Secondly, money.
Why is it that of all the Kaijus, it is Godzilla and Kong who are most often filmed? Because they are most famous in the usual environment, which is what every movie is aimed at.Did you think that movies are made only for fans?No!They are made primarily for the average viewer, and it is important that they look like an independent creation.Godzilla and Kong will bring more profit than the conventional Mothra with Rodan and Gamera.
If you ask me,why King Ghidorah,Mothra and Rodan appeared in "Godzilla:King of the Monsters",I'll answer:because the director of that movie, Michael Dougherty,was GREAT fan of TOHO.He even planned to add Biollante with MechaGodzilla to the movie,but TOHO didn't give him copyright.And "Godzilla:King of the Monsters" failed,because nobody knows about King Ghidorah and Rodan with Mothra.I think,Legendary LEARNED lesson.
People more interested in famous monsters and new ones,who look interesting (like Behemoth)
