Akira Sakaki (アキラ・サカキ?) was the father of Haruo Sakaki. Introduced in the 2017 prequel novel, Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse, he was presumed killed along with his wife, Haruka Sakaki by Godzilla, but he was later revealed to have survived in Godzilla: Project Mechagodzilla.
Akira appeared briefly during the Godzilla film, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, and appeared in the 2018 film, Godzilla: The Planet Eater.
History[]
Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse[]
Akira wasn't able to save his mother, as she was instantly killed by Godzilla following the impact of a radioactive beam which hit the underground shelter she was evacuating to.
After the death of his mother, Akira had a wife, Haruka Sakaki and a son, Haruo. Akira and Haruka were presumably killed by Godzilla's atomic breath as they were evacuating to meet up with their son.
Godzilla: Project Mechagodzilla []
It was later revealed that Akira as well as Haruka survived Godzilla's attack but he was one of the remaining humans on Earth following the planetary evacuation. He oversaw Operation Cradle which consisted of transporting the eggs of Mothra to a safe location via aircraft carrier. He, along with Haruka, can be presumed to have died sometime later.
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters[]
While Akira and Haruka would not be seen physically, the bus they were on was, as Godzilla's attack resulted in its destruction.
Godzilla: The Planet Eater[]
Akira was seen during a hallucination, where he spoke with Haruka about the nature of Haruo's name.
Trivia[]
- Akira Sakaki was the name of the character from both the Akira anime and manga series and Bad Boys Do it Better! video game.
