Asher Jonah is a soldier character who appeared in the 2019 MonsterVerse film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Personality[]

Asher shares many of Jonah's sentiments such as there always being casualties in war and that evolution is sometimes wrong. Asher is thoroughly loyal to Jonah and his cause to create a better world, saying that even though he wouldn't enjoy the deed, he would kill a thousand people if Jonah deems it necessary.[1]

Relationships[]

Alan Jonah[]

Being the right-hand man of Alan Jonah, the two share a close friendship. They often share drinks and share stories of each other's past with one another. After Asher's death, Jonah is visibly depressed[2] and it appears as if whatever connection to humanity Jonah has left in him died with Ash.[3]

History[]

Sometime after Alan Jonah defected from the British SAS, Asher was recruited into his eco-terrorist group. His first assignment was at a chemical plant in China before another in the Democratic Republic of Congo where, according to Asher, the team gave big game hunters what they deserved.[4]

Mother of God!
― Asher, upon seeing Monster Zero in the ice

Led by Jonah, Asher and the rest of their group infiltrate Monarch Outpost 61 in the Yunnan Province of China, killing all the people except for Emma Russell, her daughter Madison, and the newborn Mothra, who escaped.

With the Russells as hostages, the eco-terrorists head towards Monarch Outpost 32 in Antarctica using a stolen Osprey and passcodes obtained from the Yunaan base to trick the personnel stationed there. When they reach the facility, every Monarch agent present is killed as the mercenaries intend to free Monster Zero from the ice. After placing explosives, Asher and some of his men partake in a gunfight against a rescue squadron led by Diane Foster. When Mark Russell comes onto the scene, Asher is about to aim his rifle at him until Foster shot Asher in the head, killing him.
