Azure Skysharks, also known as Caedes nubis, are aerial mollusc superspecies created by Legendary Pictures that first appeared in the Kong: Skull Island Cinematic Adventure game.
Name[]
Azure Skysharks are named for their sky-blue coloration and their resemblance to species of Chondrichthyes, particularly sharks and rays.

Origins[]
The Skyshark is shaped something like a boomerang or flying wing aircraft. It has no discernible head, though it has primitive eyes on both the top and bottom of its body. A tail-like structure extends from the anterior part of the wing and tapers into a fin-like structure that the creature uses for steering.
The Skyshark does not fly primarily due to lift, like most creatures; instead, it is a lighter-than-air animal that inflates its body with the hydrogen gas that it produces. It propels itself using this gas, as well, by siphoning it under high pressure from the dorsal portions of its "wings," and using its tail fin for fine steering. It can also regulate the volume of gas, so that it can become more or less buoyant.
The Azure Skyshark is a sky blue color on the bottom, and a white, cloud like color on top. This makes it somewhat difficult to spot, both by its terrestrial prey and by any skyborn predators. It hunts exclusively during the day. At night, it ascends as high in the atmosphere as it can manage to evade predation and rest.
The Skyshark always attacks prey from above, swooping down silently and attempting to catch the victim by surprise. The Skyshark's whole body is a modified foot, folded around like a balloon or origami ball. When attacking, it simply opens its body and envelops the victim or, if the victim is too large for this, it envelops only the victim's head. Then, it floods the chamber with hydrogen while filtering out oxygen, effectively smothering the victim.
