The Return of Godzilla

After an S.O.S. transmission from the Yahata Maru was sent out in the midst of a storm in the Sea of Japan, Goro Maki went to investigate the boat so that he could write an article on the incident. Upon arrival, he found the ship deserted and completely disabled. After further investigation, Goro found the bodies of the crew, all dead with their bodily fluids drained, and a single survivor, a young man named Hiroshi Okumura, who was badly wounded. Suddenly, Goro was attacked by the cause of the crew's deaths, a giant sea louse called Shockirus. He was rescued by Okumura, who killed the Shockirus by stabbing it to death with a hatchet. Shortly afterwards, the J.M.S.D.F finally arrived on the scene with a Bell 212, and rescued the two men.

Gamera: Guardian of the Universe

When a mysterious floating coral atoll caused the Kairyu-Maru, a ship carrying plutonium, to run aground off the coast of the Philippines, a joint expedition between the Japanese Coast Guard and the company that owned the ship was sent to search for the atoll. After the atoll was discovered and a crew came ashore on it, it began to break apart. The researchers fell into the sea, but were rescued by their ship. One member of the expedition, Yoshinari Yonemori, climbed into a Bell 212 and flew to Fukuoka, where the large creature that emerged from the atoll was heading.
