Brenda Holland is a character created by Legendary Pictures who made her first appearance within the 2023 MonsterVerse series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

History

2012

Brenda recruited a talented programmer named Corah Mateo to work for AET. She promised Corah that her coding would help people walk again. She wooed Corah with the promise money, comradery, and success. As time went by, Corah became frustrated as she learned her coding was funneled to the Cybernetics Neuro-Interface Unit. Brenda brushed off Corah's concern and coldly reminded Corah that the code belonged to AET, not herself. Corah hacked into the unit and learned that AET tortured monkeys with brain devices for research. Her coding only furthered their inhumane testing. Corah crashed AET's systems, which cost the company years of research and millions of dollars. She left behind a digital signature that allowed AET, and a furious Brenda, to identify her. Corah went on the run to avoid prosecution and AET's wrath.

2015

Brenda and AET successfully located Corah, who went by the name May Olowe-Hewitt, after she accessed her finances for the first time in three years. AET goons kidnapped May at an airport in Algeria and flew her back to Tacoma, Washington, where Brenda met her in a conference room. Brenda insisted the monkeys were the future until May wiped it out. The company didn't contact the authorities because they liked to handle things internally. Brenda's cell phone alerted with news of a Titan attack, which she knew was a ruse, as there would have been advanced warning. She showed May security footage of Cate Randa, Kentaro Randa, and Tim entering the building to save her. She accused May of knowing more about monsters that she let on. Part of Brenda's goal in research now was to find out what made a creature like Godzilla walk and operate. The unit was dedicated to research such as that before Corah wiped it out. Brenda offered May the chance to walk out of AET a free woman with back pay if she agreed to be a spy in Monarch. She wanted to know everything May learned about monsters. May declined and told her friends to leave. Brenda was disappointed and prepared to call the police when Natalia Verdugo from Monarch contacted Brenda directly. After they spoke, Brenda released May as a free woman. She later called a Mr. Simmons to discuss the company rebranding to Apex Cybernetics.

2017

Within two years since their first meeting, Brenda worked together with Kentaro, and Hiroshi Randa in locating and rescuing Cate, May, and Keiko Randa within an Apex research station on Skull Island. She then informs May that she has accomplished everything she promised her as Kong approaches the facility.
