Chibi Mothra (ちびモスラ Chibi Mosura?) is a young moth-like kaiju and a character of the Chibi Godzilla children's series, who first appeared in the 2019 children's book Close Friends, Chibi Godzilla. Chibi Mothra is a child version of Mothra who is a friend of Chibi Godzilla and other kaiju.
Name[]
Chibi Mothra's name comes from "chibi" (ちび?), which is Japanese for "small" or "little", and Mothra. In Japanese popular culture, "Chibi" describes child-sized characters with exaggerated and cute appearances to appeal to younger audiences, denoting this Mothra being intended for children.

Appearance[]
Chibi Mothra's design is similar to her traditional kaiju self but with a simplified design. She is cream-colored, with red spotted wings, large blue eyes, and a yellow beak. She has three pairs of legs and two feathery white antennae.
Personality[]
Like her adult self, Chibi Mothra is very kind and gentle. She gets along well with Chibi Godzilla, whom she often comforts. She can be quite shy around other kaiju, however, and mostly lets the Shobijin speak for her, although they often misrepresent what Chibi Mothra says to get their own message across.

Chibi Godzilla Raids Again[]
The Resplendent Maiden, Chibi Mothra[]
Chibi Mothra was getting taught by the Shobijin on how to put on make-up when Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla arrived, the former wanting to introduce the latter to Chibi Mothra. The Shobijin were weirded out by this and tried to get the two to scram by pretending Chibi Mothra was speaking through them, with Chibi Mothra trying to tell them to stop. Eventually Chibi Mechagodzilla approached Chibi Mothra directly and the two began talking. Chibi Mothra explained the Shobijin were teaching her how to put on make-up as she was looking a bit plain, with Chibi Mechagodzilla saying that she already looked cute. This caused Chibi Mothra to become extremely flustered and the Shobijin to change their translations, being far more overbearing and causing Chibi Mothra to cry out of embarrassment, releasing her poisonous scales. The scales knocked out Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla and the Shobijin. After this, Chibi Mothra told Chibi Mechagodzilla it was nice to say, with the robot replying likewise.
The Ruler of the Skies, Chibi Rodan[]
Chibi Mothra joined Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla as they were hiking a mountain. As they were, Chibi Rodan arrived, his narcissistic self believing the group was talking about him. Once Chibi Rodan figured out that Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla couldn't fly, he showing off his grand wings. Chibi Mechagodzilla would point out that Chibi Mothra also had wings, ones that were much prettier, calling Chibi Rodan's wings plain. Chibi Mothra then watched as Chibi Rodan fell to the ground, his ego shattered. Chibi Mothra landed and began giving Chibi Rodan compliments to get him back in the air, Chibi Mothra explaining that Chibi Rodan loved it when girls gave him compliments. Chibi Mothra did this again when Chibi Rodan fell again.
Monster Study Session[]
Chibi Mothra knew studying was important to becoming a powerful kaiju and joined a group of kaiju in a study session. When Chibi Godzilla asked what enemy was the hardest for Godzilla to defeat, Chibi Mothra answered himself, believing Godzilla could hurt himself when using his heat ray.
The Bewitching Rose, Chibi Biollante[]
Chibi Mothra would go to Chibi Biollante's bar alongside Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Mechagodzilla to talk about a trouble she had. Chibi Mothra had developed a crush on another monster. Chibi Biollante suggested dipping soup for the mind, with Chibi Mothra figuring out was because if her mind was like a noodle and it wasn't immersed in soup, it needs to be dipped in a hot bowl of relaxation to soak up solutions in a broth of thought. Chibi Mothra also realized her skin gets rough and dry when she's tired, with Chibi Biollante simply suggesting hyaluronic acid.
Chibi Godzilla's Second Form[]
Chibi Mothra and Chibi Ghidorah would arrive to see Chibi Godzilla in his second form, due to Godzilla spraining his neck during his sleep. While trying to figure out how to help, Chibi Mothra suggested Chibi Godzilla stretch his neck. Though she was grossed out by it, it worked, Chibi Godzilla returning to normal.
An All-Chibi Monster Chorus[]
Back at Chibi Biollante's bar, Chibi Mothra would participate in a karaoke night. While she was nervous, the Shobijin got her up to sing the Mothra song, only for the Shobijin to sing before Chibi Mothra could. Chibi Mothra then participated in the group singing of Godzilla's theme.
A Mighty Monster's Instincts[]
Chibi Mothra would see as Chibi Godzilla's destructive urges grew and he began firing his heat ray and letting out a roar while sneezing, believing he was going to become a big monster. Later she saw as Chibi Godzilla left a message that he had to go for a couple years. Chibi Mothra would be shocked when Chibi Godzilla reappeared at that very second.

Poisonous scales[]
Chibi Mothra can release poisonous scales when she cries. These scales were able to knock Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla and Shobijin out.
