Release
City Shrouded in Shadow opened with immense opening sales, placing second during its launch, with 48,935 units sold on the PlayStation 4, not counting digital sales. In comparison, 2014's Godzilla VS video game opened at number ten, with 7,729 units sold. The game's PlayStation 3 port in comparison also only sold 19,777 units, making City Shrouded in Shadows a large success for the company who previously published said Godzilla title.[1]
Trivia
- This is the second game published by Bandai Namco to utilize the license to the Godzilla franchise after the 2014 Godzilla video game, not counting the "Tokyo Martial Law" expansion to Ace Combat Infinity.
- This game is also the second video game to officially feature both Godzilla and Ultraman, after Battle Soccer: Champion of the Field.
- This game is one of few games to feature a kaiju incursion from a human perspective, along with Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters and Gamera: Gyaos Destruction Strategy.
- The shadow creatures' Ultraman disguise in this game appears to be identical to Alien Zarab's Imitation Ultraman disguise.
