David Martin is a character that appears in the 2024 MonsterVerse game Kong: Survivor Instinct, where he serves as its main protagonist and only playable character.
Personality[]
David Martin is a deeply driven family-oriented man that will go through near impossible odds in order to protect the ones that he loves. When he first received news of a Titan attack in the city where his daughter was living and working in, he wasted no time in setting out to search for her. Despite having to constantly battle Alan Jonah's mercenaries and various creatures in the city's ruins, David remained focused and motivated on his quest to find and save his daughter.
David is shown to be an empathetic man, as he offered help to numerous people he found still trapped within the city during his journey and displayed a sense of guilt when he was unable to save several of them. Despite being an adept combatant, David took no joy in killing and saw it only as a necessary means to protect himself and his family. Like many people post G-Day, David feared Titans and saw them as unpredictable monsters that humanity was helpless against. Despite this, over his journey, David formed a fondness for Kong after being assisted by the titanic ape on several occasions.
History[]
Kong: Survivor Instinct[]
David is first seen in his home watching a news report in which he discovers that the city where his daughter, Stacey Martin, lives and works had been attacked by Kong. He immediately gathers some gear and sets out for the city in his car. Along the way, he calls Stacey and leaves her a voicemail, telling her that he is on the way and that he would find her. After being distracted while watching Kong ravage the skyline of the city, David crashes his car into some suburbs, where he continues his journey by foot. David would go on to encounter numerous Titans, such as Kong himself, Abaddon, and Tiamat, as well as Alan Jonah's eco-terrorist cell, the "Hyenas", who were covertly operating in the city.
David would eventually find Stacey in a Hyena laboratory working for Alan Jonah. Stacey would explain that she was put in charge of watching over Lahamu, the offspring of Tiamat, and refused to leave with her father. After a brief skirmish with Alan Jonah, Stacey would manually release Lahamu from her confinement to serve as a distraction for her and David's escape. As the facility rapidly flooded with water, David and Stacey would be caught in a massive wave and dragged underwater.
Some time later, David and Stacey wash up on a beach on the outskirts of the city. As David lays motionless on the sand, Stacey is seen waking up.
