Diraffes are a mammalian superspecies created by Legendary Pictures that first appeared in the novelization of the 2024 film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Name

The creatures' name was revealed in the film's novelization. Diraffe is a portmanteau of the "di" in "armadillo" and word "giraffe", due to the creature sharing characteristics with both species.

Design

Appearance

Diraffes are described as resembling hoofed armadillos that are larger than elephants, with an otter-like head, a long, snake-like neck, two-hooved hind limbs, and a thick shell covering their body.

Personality

Diraffes appear to be docile, herbivorous creatures that will pull their head inside their shells when threatened.

History

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire - The Official Movie Novelization

A Diraffe is encountered by Jayne in Hollow Earth when she thinks there is a hostile Titan or superspecies stalking her. After going inside Outpost 1, she sees it was a Diraffe which nibbles on a few leaves before lumbering off.
