Shanghai

Shanghai is a major city in China. It is the largest city in China as well as in the entire world by population. It is featured in the 2004 Godzilla film, Godzilla: Final Wars.

Godzilla: Final Wars[]

When kaiju began to appear all across the world without warning, Anguirus appeared in Shanghai. The Earth Defense Force deployed the vehicle Karyu to stop the monster, which fought him to a draw. Suddenly, Anguirus and all the other monsters around the world were teleported away by an advanced alien race known as the Xiliens, who claimed to have come to save humanity. However, the EDF exposed the Xiliens' true plan, to conquer the Earth and enslave humanity. After the plan was exposed, the Xiliens' leader, X, released all the monsters again. Anguirus resumed his attack on Shanghai, while the Karyu was helpless against the kaiju and the Xilien Fighters and was destroyed. Eventually, with Shanghai in ruins, Anguirus was taken away and released at Mount Fuji to fight Godzilla.
