The Giant Electrode (巨大電極板,,   Kyodai denkyoku-ban?) is an electricity-releasing device which first appeared in the 1971 Toho film Godzilla vs. Hedorah.

History[]

Showa era[]

Godzilla vs. Hedorah[]

As it became clear that Godzilla was losing the battle against Hedorah in the countryside, the J.S.D.F. decided to launch a last-ditch attempt at fighting the monster themselves. The massive electrode was set at the end of the field where the kaiju were fighting each other, and power was applied to them. Godzilla grabbed Hedorah and managed to pull him towards the electrodes, but the devices shorted out because power lines were damaged by Godzilla and Hedorah's battle. In an act of quick-thinking, Godzilla recharged the electrode by firing his Atomic Breath at them, repairing them as well. Hedorah, now severely dehydrated from the electrode's relentless charges, tried to flee in his flight form, but Godzilla famously flew off after him, and brought him down to the ground, once again pulling him towards the electrode. After a few more minutes of Godzilla using his Atomic Breath to dry out Hedorah in conjunction with the electrodes, the King of the Monsters was finally victorious.

Weapons[]

  • The Giant Electrode can discharge a massive amount of electricity. However, it requires a large amount of power in order to do so.
