Series Overview
Monsters are attacking all parts of the world in a full-scale apocalypse, while ordinary human beings are struggling to live in a world where the world has gone mad.

Story
Issue #1
In Japan, a boy and girl play on a beach littered with dead fish. Godzilla suddenly appears, seemingly devouring the two youths. Meanwhile, a fisherman sees the commotion and is concerned for his children. Godzilla comes ashore, and the Japanese military sends out fighter jets. Failing to subdue the monster with these means, the Prime Minister orders a nuclear attack. Unfortunately, this only grants Godzilla atomic breath. The beast continues onward into Tokyo, reducing it to rubble. Shortly, in America, President Ogden is made aware of the creature.

Issue #2
As Godzilla continues his rampage on Japan, a boy steals a strange "meteorite" in Moscow. Animals begin dying in mass numbers around the world, as the monster Anguirus appears in Sabinas, Mexico. Meanwhile, the "meteorite" hatches into Rodan. In response to Anguirus, a wall is built on the Texas/Mexico border, which is destroyed by him. In Japan, the fisherman who lost his children to Godzilla, straps explosives to himself and detonates on Godzilla's snout, to little effect.

IDW Publishing, famous for making comics based on Transformers and other licensed properties, will team-up with Toho Company Limited to produce new Godzilla comics in 2011 titled Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters. Some details are that Godzilla will be with familiar monsters and new ones. The familiar ones include Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan. Eric Powell will be co-writing with Tracy Marsh and doing the series' covers. Eric Powell has also done the cover art for one of the issues seen at the bottom. The release date is scheduled for March 2011. The plot of the series is "a full-scale apocalypse is brewing. The monsters are a force of nature whose attacks can be no more predicted or rationalized than a lightning strike. There will be no clean-cut heroes with perfectly chiseled chins and capes billowing in the wind; only ordinary human beings struggling desperately to survive in a world gone mad." Co-writer and co-cover artist Eric Powell revealed that the first monsters to be introduced are Godzilla, Anguirus, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah and they will be introduced in the way they were introduced on screen. He also revealed Tokyo might be destroyed due to the monsters in two issues later.
