Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #5 is the third issue of Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters. It was released on May 25, 2011.
Description[]
"Godzilla, Rodan, and Anguirus continue their devastation, and the worldwide media begins to chime in. As people around the globe suffer, celebrities band together to save the monsters from human counterattack, and the president is criticized for being 'soft on monsters.' Meanwhile... a mysterious giant egg washes ashore in France. And what's with those creepy little twin girls?"
Plot[]
In Cherbourg, Normandy, France, mute twin girls Minette and Mallorie are brought to their third school in six months after causing "issues" among the other children at their previous schools. Meanwhile, at United Nations headquarters in New York City, a Japanese scientist speaks before the General Assembly about the three giant monsters which are terrorizing the globe. He names the first creature which appeared and attacked Japan Godzilla, the winged monster Godzilla, and the spiky one Anguirus. Outside of San Antonio, Texas, two men, Billy Ray and Bobby Ray, drink beer next to a pickup truck. Billy Ray expresses his desire to kill Anguirus and take his head as a trophy, though Bobby Ray doubts he could do so after the military failed to harm the monster. Billy Ray responds that he has more experience hunting than the military does, just as Anguirus begins rolling toward the two men. They get into the truck and immediately begin pursuing the monster.
Back in France, three schoolchildren kick a soccer ball while discussing the monster attacks. One boy, Lucas, accidentally kicks the ball into one of the twins. As he apologizes, he suddenly witnesses a monstrous creature emerge from the ground in front of him and attack him. Lucas writhes on the ground screaming in terror as the others look on, seeing nothing but the panicked boy. At the Korean Demilitarized Zone, North and South Korean military personnel watch each other angrily before a blast of atomic breath strikes the ground between them. The North Koreans flee their watchtower as Godzilla (IDW continuity) stomps toward it, much to the amusement of the South Koreans.
On a beach in France, several schoolchildren kick a soccer ball as they discuss whether Lucas is going to be okay. They mention how Minette and Mallorie creep them out, with one boy saying he isn't afraid to hit them if they look at him as he kicks the ball over their heads into the distance. The twins walk along the beach and find a huge egg, which they decide belongs to them.
At the Tunes TV Awards, a reporter named Chaz covers artist Girly Yaya's musical performance. Music writer and critic Axel Preston praises Yaya's performance and predicts that she'll win the TTV Award for Best Album. Chaz then interviews Yaya about her costume, which depicts Godzilla (IDW continuity) nailed to a cross. Yaya explains that she is a member of the organization Monster Equality And Living Standards (M.E.A.L.S.), and protests the military's use of lethal force against the monsters. When Chaz asks Yaya about the people being killed in Texas by Anguirus, she responds that it is nature and that Texas should be destroyed for the greater good. Axel then interviews Korean rapper Gochu, who exclaims that people in his country are losing their homes and lives and that President Ogden doesn't care about Asian people. Axel then turns the coverage back over to Chaz, who is standing by with the cast of the reality show Jerseyfied.
Ogden, watching the TTV Awards on a phone, angrily responds to Gochu's accusation by saying his grandmother was Asian. He is then presented with a photograph of the egg from France, which is believed to house another giant creature. At the beach, a swarm of moths flies past the egg before suddenly dropping dead. In Texas, Billy Ray and Bobby Ray pursue Anguirus and aim at him with a rifle, but the beast simply crushes their truck with his tail. Back in France, the French military has surrounded the egg and prepared to destroy it with explosives, despite ongoing protests. These protests reach all the way to Times Square in NYC, where Girly Yaya speaks at a M.E.A.L.S. rally demanding to save the egg. Minette and Mallorie sneak past the military perimeter and incapacitate the soldiers using their psychic powers. They watch as the egg hatches into a huge black larva, which they name Battra. On an island, a native man watches a news report about Battra and remarks that something has gone horribly wrong to two miniature twin women.
