Story[]
Issue #1[]
Main Article: Godzilla: War for Humanity Issue 1
Twenty-five years before the main story, Yuko Honda and her friend Megumi were lost in the forests of rural Japan, where they witnessed Godzilla battling Hedorah. The fight raged for three days before Godzilla prevailed, leaving surprisingly little damage. Years later, Yuko—now a professor of Kaiju Studies—recounts the event in a lecture, calling Godzilla humanity’s savior. During her speech, billionaire tech mogul Phazon Fullchech hijacks the Anti-Monster Task Force database to reveal footage of a new kaiju, Zoospora, killing Gorosaurus and Manda. He then recruits Yuko into Task Force Alpha, led by Colonel Elise Guerrero, alongside Dr. Johnny Wiggums and Phazon. While they plan to deploy Phazon’s mech, M.O.G.U.E.R.A., Yuko insists Godzilla is their only true hope. Johnny quietly informs her that Godzilla is currently on Monster Island, fighting Ebirah.

Midway through its migration, Anguirus stops in Madagascar, where it is suddenly attacked by the mysterious kaiju Zoospora. The Anti-Monster Task Force deploys M.O.G.U.E.R.A. to intervene, but Zoospora overpowers Anguirus, infecting it with a tar-like fungal substance that kills and enslaves the beast. When M.O.G.U.E.R.A. arrives, the zombified Anguirus and Zoospora together infect the mech and its crew, turning them against their own command. Meanwhile, Dr. Yuko Honda, her colleague Johnny Wiggum, and Yuko’s daughter Samantha race to Mongolia to consult a telepathic “Talking Cave” said to commune with kaiju. There, a sentient Blob reveals that Zoospora exists to curb humanity’s destructive impact on Earth and claims Godzilla allows this “antivirus” to continue. Yuko’s faith in Godzilla is shaken until Mothra’s twin priestesses appear, warning that the Blob’s story is incomplete—Godzilla remains on Monster Island not to aid Zoospora, but to protect his son Minilla, even as Mothra sets out to bring him into the fight.

A Zoospora-controlled trio—Anguirus, Manda, and Gorosaurus—ravages Tokyo as the Anti-Monster Task Force and Department of Kaiju Migration struggle to defend the city, while Phazon Fullchech recounts how M.O.G.U.E.R.A. Power Team Alpha was infected by the same parasitic ooze, driving them mad. During his briefing, he dismisses Yuko and Johnny’s Mongolian expedition as a “vacation,” though it was actually a mission to find The Cave, a sentient kaiju that revealed Zoospora was designed to wipe out humanity and that Godzilla allows its rampage only to protect Minilla, a claim the Shobijin later confirm. When Barry belatedly reports the Tokyo attack in an overlong document, the team learns their only pilots are infected, forcing them to suit up and fly the upgraded Super M.O.G.U.E.R.A. themselves, with Dr. Wiggum proposing the capture of Minilla to lure Godzilla. As Rodan succumbs to Zoospora at the Taal Volcano, the crew captures Minilla on Monster Island, pursued by a furious Godzilla, and battles the three kaiju in Tokyo until Mothra intervenes, only for an infected Rodan to strike—just before Godzilla himself erupts from the sea in a blast of blue atomic fire to defend his son and confront the kaiju.
Issue #4[]

As Super M.O.G.U.E.R.A. battles Zoospora’s army of infected kaiju, Barry narrowly escapes, leaving Godzilla, Minilla, and Mothra to defend Tokyo alone. At Kaiju Task Force Alpha HQ, tensions flare as Samantha accuses her mother, Yuko Honda, of cowardice and neglect before storming off. In Tokyo, Zoospora erupts from underground, ensnaring Godzilla and regenerating even after a devastating atomic breath attack, prompting Dr. Wiggums to theorize its global root network must be destroyed. Mothra falls under Zoospora’s control as the team races to repair M.O.G.U.E.R.A., only to learn the Star Falcon has been hijacked—by Samantha. As Godzilla makes a desperate last stand and Minilla faces infection, the Shobijin warn that if Zoospora enslaves Godzilla, humanity is doomed, driving Yuko to order an emergency repair to save both her daughter and the world.
Issue #5[]

As Zoospora seizes the Sky M.O.G.U.E.R.A. and prepares to infect Godzilla, Yuko forces a desperate repair of Super M.O.G.U.E.R.A. despite the risk of a reactor meltdown. The newly christened Super M.O.G.U.E.R.A. II joins Godzilla and Minilla in a last stand against an army of infected kaiju, buying time while Yuko and Samantha race to Mongolia, where the mysterious Talking Blob is revealed as Zoospora’s true brain. In a tense confrontation, Yuko is nearly killed, but Samantha seizes her mother’s gun and fires at the creature just as Godzilla absorbs the mech’s unstable radiation, unleashing a supercharged Omega Atomic Breath. Their combined attack destroys Zoospora and the Blob, freeing the infected monsters as fragments of the parasite rain over Tokyo. Returning in the Sky M.O.G.U.E.R.A., Yuko apologizes to Godzilla, who pointedly covers her in mucus before departing with Minilla, signaling both forgiveness and hard-won peace.

Reception[]
War for Humanity released silently near the end of 2023 and ended in the middle of May 2024. Due to the cluttered space of Godzilla content at the Time (i.e. Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Academy Awards etc.) along with the much anticipated Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons and Godzilla vs The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II Comics preceeding and proceeding its initial releases respectfully made the Miniseries unlikely to make a splash. Especially considering it's similar artstyle to Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors.
The only real significance of the Miniseries was that it introduced a new Variant of M.O.G.U.E.R.A. named Super M.O.G.U.E.R.A. and gave the Mecha it's first major role since Rulers of Earth.
