- Godzilla: War for Humanity #1 marks Minilla's first appearance in an IDW Publishing comic. He was previously featured in an early concept sketch for Jeff Zornow's retailer incentive cover for Godzilla: Rulers of Earth #8, though he was absent from the finished comic.
- In Jake Smith's original artwork for the issue, the son of Godzilla bears a different design that more closely resembles Godzilla himself, possibly modeled after LittleGodzilla rather than Minilla, which is also visible on the original cover artwork. It is unclear if this was intended to be LittleGodzilla or simply a redesigned Minilla.
