The Gorosaurus (ゴロザウルス?) of the GorozaurusuAniGoji continuity is a giant, carnivorous, theropod-like kaiju created by Toho that first appeared in Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse, a prequel novelization for the 2017 film, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters.
History[]
Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse[]
Gorosaurus shared similar traits with Zilla with regards to their history. Gorosaurus inhabited Paris after Europe had been destroyed by Godzilla.
In November of 2039, the main company of the G-Force, which included a tank squadron leader Haruka Yashiro, attacked the Gorosaurus as a part of "Operation: Eternal Light".
During the operation, the Gorosaurus was able to bring down a number of reconnaissance drones, including two Super X Ⅱs; however, these sacrifices were part of a plan to lure the monster into the Vexin Français Natural Regional Park. Barrages of G-HED were thrown at it to slow its advance and concentrated fire from Maser cannons fatally wounded the monster. In a twist, the Gorosaurus hurled itself into a Bilusaludo space ship, even though it was at brink of death. This ship was the headquarters of G-Force, and the resulting action destroyed both itself and the space ship. It was later noted that said ship had been carelessly pushed into the front lines.
Godzilla: Project Mechagodzilla[]
Along with Manda and Baragon, the Gorosaurus possibly reacted to Operation: Great Wall.
Abilities[]
The Gorosaurus's similarities to Zilla provided it with the capability to effectively engage in combat with humanity. Unlike Zilla, however, the Gorosaurus had not been confirmed as being capable of reproduction.
Agility[]
Gorosaurus was noted to be as agile as Zillas, and humanity's forces had to slow the monster's agility and jumping capability by heavy bombardments to defeat it.
Like its predecessors, this Gorosaurus possessed a surprising capability fpr high jumping, allowing it to easily engage with otherwise problematic aerial foes.
Endurance[]
Gorosaurus exhibited surprising levels of durability, as evidenced by its ability to take out a key ship in the G-Force fleet despite suffering from mortal wounds.
Trivia[]
- Gorosaurus's appearance in Paris resembles that of its appearance in the 1968 film, Destroy All Monsters.
- Super X Ⅱs that were taken down by Gorosaurus were the same Super Xs that were severely damaged by Biollante prior to the battle, and later upgraded.
