Kumasogami (クマソガミ?) is a lava Kumasogamikaiju created by Toho that first appeared in the 1994 film, Yamato Takeru.
Development[]
Kumasogami was originally intended to be a spider god, as evidenced by concept art.
History[]
Yamato Takeru[]
The people of the kingdom of Kumaso would give a young girl to Kumasogami every once in a while, but when Oto was to be sacrificed to the Kumasogami, Yamato Takeru and his band of warriors came to her rescue, and closed Kumasogami's gate. Enraged, Kumasogami broke the gate down, then morphed his hands into a bow and arrow before firing on the band of warriors.
As Kumasogami maintained the assault, Oto shot at him with fireballs, drawing his attention. Kumasogami turned his hand into a giant sword, and pushed Yamato Takeru to the side. This enraged Yamato, prompting bolts of green energy to be summoned from his eyes and impact on Kumasogami, destroying him.
Abilities[]
Kumasogami seems to be capable of morphing his body at will, as seen when he transforms his fingers into arrows to fire from a bow formed on his wrist. While the arrows appear to be explosive, they have not been shown to result in fatalities, only injury. He also formed a sword in place of his hand, but beyond these examples it is unclear just how far this morphing ability extends.
Trivia[]
- In Godzilla Island, a new monster called Dororin is portrayed using a repainted figure of Kumasogami.
