Mechagodzilla (Godzilla Island)

The Mechagodzilla (Japanese: メカゴジラ, Hepburn: Mekagojira^?) of the Godzilla Island continuity is a daikaiju created by Toho that first appeared in the 1997 series, Godzilla Island.

Name[]

His name is still the same from previous incarnations, except he is known as Gold Mechagodzilla sometimes.

Mechagodzilla's appearance looks much akin to his Heisei incarnation, albeit in action figure form.

History[]

Godzilla Island[]

In this television series, Mechagodzilla is one of the mechas operated by G-Guard to protect Godzilla Island, alongside Moguera , Proto-Moguera and Jet Jaguar, plus its two variations. A version of the Showa Mechagodzilla called Black Mechagodzilla makes an appearance in this series as well. Notably, Mechagodzilla is used to fight Black Mechagodzilla in a duel, but Zaguresu cheats and uses the machine to throw Mechagodzilla down.

Trivia[]

This version of Mechagodzilla 2 and the one from IDW Publishing are the first versions of Mechagodzilla to ally with Godzilla in any medium.
