Mendel Craven

History

GODZILLA

Craven is first seen on screen delivering a videotape to Elsie Chapman containing information on the monster that had attacked that area. He plays a minor-if-not-nonexistent role for the rest of the film.

Godzilla: The Series

Dr. Craven debuts in the first episode of the show as a co-worker of Elsie Chapman and Nick Tatopoulos. After the Military seized their equipment, Craven and Chapman join Tatopoulos and his assistant Randy Hernandez to form a team to try and study the many Kaiju who were appearing. Throughout the series, he affirms his position as a coward with a sense of duty. He is not afraid to make it clear that he would rather be in a laboratory, rather than facing the dangers that come with up-close Kaiju study. He appears in every episode of the series. it is later cemented that Mendel is in charge of H.E.A.T. when Nick is absent.

• Dr. Craven has numerous allergies, which becomes a running joke in both GODZILLA and Godzilla: The Series.
• Dr. Craven is the creator of H.E.A.T.'s research robot N.I.G.E.L.
• Dr. Craven and Major Anthony Hicks are the only characters in Godzilla: The Series to be voiced by the same actors who played them in GODZILLA.
• Mendel took Bagpipe lessons in High School.
• Mendel is skilled at Origami
