Mothra (モスラ Mosura?) of the IDW Publishing continuity is a divine moth kaiju. She makes appearances in Godzilla: Ongoing and its sequel series, Godzilla: Rulers of Earth. Like her film counterpart, Mothra maintains good relations with humanity and intercedes with other monsters on mankind's behalf. She is also spoken for by her two Shobijin.

Mothra's name simply comes from combining the word "moth" with ra, a common last syllable in kaiju's names.

Appearance[]
Mothra resembles her Showa and Heisei era incarnations, appearing as a white lepidopteran kaiju with birdlike claws, multicolored wings, large blue eyes and orange, white, and black patterns covering her.
Personality[]
Mothra is one of the most benevolent kaiju who often acts to protect humanity from the wrath of her more aggressive fellow monsters. Mothra usually relies on reasoning rather than violence in stopping other monsters, as shown by the multiple times when she convinces Godzilla to cease his rampages. However, Mothra has been seen causing destruction in some issues, but only when she is either searching for her Shobijin or is drawn to the area by something.
