The Orthogonal Diagonalizer is a superweapon first seen in the Netflix anime series Godzilla: Singular Point. Designed to manipulate the base Archetype form of Red Dust, it is used various times in an attempt to kill various kaiju, notably Salunga and Godzilla himself.
Description[]
The Orthogonal Diagonalizer is a device developed by members of the SHIVA Consortium, notably Bearach Byrne. Yun Arikawa described it as a "programmable atom", designed to manipulate the various Archetype forms, notably Red Dust, into other forms of Archetype. The OD itself is the 13th and ultimate form of Archetype, its assembly only possible through the use of the Superdimensional Calculator in possession of SHIVA. Production is slow, and the Orthogonal Diagonalizer devices are always in short supply.
The device itself strongly resembles the Oxygen Destroyers of previous Godzilla entries, being a metallic sphere supported by metallic rods that are suspended in a transparent casing. The device is compact enough to be transported inside a suitcase, or within the body of an Anti-Tank Guided Missile.
Being a programmable atom, there is the option to program the effect of the device itself through a code. As the kaiju themselves may adapt to the OD, different codes must be used to maintain efficacy.
Function[]
When activated within a matrix of Red Dust, it triggers a reaction, consolidating the Red Dust particles into massive crystals that grow extremely quickly. These crystals' growth seem to seek out high concentrations of Red Dust, or its main target; a Kaiju. The unfortunate kaiju will be quickly impaled by the formations of crystal, immobilizing or outright killing them. As the device uses the Red Dust suspended in the air, the clouds of Red Dust in an area disappear after a successful activation
The Device requires high concentrations of Red Dust to be effective, as activation within areas of high concentrations produce larger and more aggressive crystals. It is presumed that the device has little effect when activated in an environment free of Archetype.
Being programmable through code, a user may be able to adjust the effects of the weapon. This proves to be useful as a kaiju may adapt its manipulation of Red Dust, rendering previous codes completely ineffective.

- The Orthogonal Diagonalizer is the series' equivalent of the Oxygen Destroyer. Other than a similar form to the OD's capsule, they both share the same initials of the O.D.
