Paramount Pictures Corporation is an American film production company, and a subsidiary of the media conglomerate Viacom.
Paramount produced a remake of King Kong in 1976, and in 2008 produced the film Cloverfield. They also released several Showa era Godzilla films on VHS in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Paramount was founded as Famous Players Film Company in 1912.
In the 1970s, Paramount and producer Dino De Laurentiis purchased the film rights to King Kong from RKO Pictures and produced a remake of the original 1933 film in 1976.
