Raymond Martin is the main antagonist of the 2024 MonsterVerse comic Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted. Martin was the head of RM Construction and a survivor of G-Day. Driven by animosity toward all superspecies, Martin sought to wipe out the Titans in order to establish humanity as the dominant species. This took him to hunting the creatures down one by one, before setting up a base of operations in Hollow Earth itself.
Personality[]
Raymond Martin started out as a kind man who loved his family. But after the emergence of Godzilla and the MUTOs that killed everyone he loved, he became a cruel and bitter person who wished to kill every superspecies with the belief that humanity must always remain on top.
Martin's callousness made him underestimate the superspecies' intelligence and dismissed them as primitive, mindless animals. However, this proved to be his undoing when Kong managed to destroy his Titan Hunter Mech and when the cubs of the female Spineprowler he killed came after him to avenge their mother.
History[]
2014[]
Raymond Martin was taking his parents, wife, and son on a tour of the building he constructed in San Francisco when the female MUTO arrived and forced him to evacuate his family. As they went down the building's private elevator, the MUTO's attack destroyed the building and killed Martin's entire family. Although Martin survived, he lost his left arm during the destruction. The grief of losing his family made him determined in exterminating all superspecies.
Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted[]
A decade after losing his family, Raymond Martin became a contractor of Monarch and established a base on a private island. The island also had an entrance to the Hollow Earth that enabled him to hunt various superspecies. He also constructed the Titan Hunter Mech that would allow him to kill larger, more powerful creatures. Martin then captured a Spineprowler to test the Titan Hunter before he activated various reactor beacons around the world to distract Godzilla, Scylla, and the world's governments from suspecting his activities.
After testing the Titan Hunter in killing the captured Spineprowler, Martin successfully bribed Monarch to allow him and his subordinates to hunt in the Hollow Earth for 48 hours. He then used the Titan Hunter to slaughter a Warbat and a Sker Buffalo before setting his sights on two Spineprowler cubs. As Martin advanced on the cubs, their mother arrived to to protect them. Martin was able to kill the female Spineprowler and turned his attention back to the cubs when Kong arrived to end his rampage. As Martin fought Kong, he believed the Alpha Titan to be a primitive creature that could not comprehend human ingenuity. However, when Kong made the Titan Hunter fall off a cliff, Martin rambled at Kong about being the superior species. The fall destroyed the Titan Hunter as Martin freed himself from the wreckage. He grumbled at his failure as the Spineprowler cubs arrived and killed him to avenge their mother.
