Mafune is depicted as a brilliant, but tragically insane scientist blinded by his thirst for revenge.
History
While still a young man, Mafune was once a brilliant and respected scientist at a prestigious Oceanographic Center in Japan. Many were intrigued by his plan to create vast under sea ranches. However, his colleagues soon started to question his ethnics when he created a means to mentally control forms of Sea life. During the course of his experiments, Mafune had managed to discover Titanosaurus. When he claimed he had discovered Titanosaurus and could control him, It cost him his career as a scientist and was fired (Though it is curious why no would believe him given the number of monster attacks Japan had.). Embittered, Mafune isolated himself and his daughter Katsura away from the world and continued his experiments in secret and without funding.
