Template:Tabber2Legendary Template:Infobox Monster Typhon,[1] also dubbed Titanus Typhon, is a giant daikaiju created by Legendary Pictures that appears in Legendary's 2019 film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, as a name briefly seen on a monitor.

Name

"Typhon" is a monstrous and powerful male serpentine giant in Greek mythology and the father of Scylla. He was one of the strongest creatures in all Greek myths, and Zeus could only beat him with the use of thunderbolts. Typhon is also the name of a giant stag beetle subspecies Dorcus titanus typhon. It is unknown if Titanus Typhon is named because of how he resembles the mythical Typhon (similarly to how Scylla is the monster from mythology) or if he resembles the giant stag beetle subspecies.

History

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

At some point, Typhon had Monarch Outpost 92 built around him in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. When Ghidorah calls all the Titans, Typhon breaks free and begins to hunt with his new pack, attacking the Philippines. When the ORCA calls all Titans to Boston, Typhon does not arrive in time to see Godzilla become the new Alpha of all Titans (except Kong).

Trivia

  • The outpost Typhon was contained in, Monarch Outpost 92, is a possible reference to the 1992 Toho film Godzilla vs. Mothra.
    • This may imply that Typhon is based off of Battra, the kaiju introduced in Godzilla vs Mothra.
