Zone Fighter

Overview

Zone Fighter (ゾーンファイター, Zōn Faitā^?), real name Hikaru Sakimori (さきもりひかる, Sakimori Hikaru^?) is a Seijin created by Toho that first appeared in the 1973 tokusatsu kaiju series, Zone Fighter.

Appearance[]

Zone Fighter has a silver humanoid face, with yellow eyes and a silver antenna coming from his forehead. His body is mostly silver except for a blue triangle on his upper chest, two red lighting bolts across his body, and a large multicolored belt buckle-like object on his lower body. This buckle indicates how much power Zone Fighter has, and ranges from blue when at full power to a deep yellow-red when he is injured or close to collapse. His legs and arms are blue and his gloves are silver. The outer parts of his boots are green and the inner parts are red.

Abilities[]

Flight speed close to the speed of light as he could fly from Earth to Venus in mere minutes.
Running up to 800 kilometers per hour
- Reinforced muscles that allow for strength that can lift up to forty times his body weight, effortless atmospheric travel, and surviving in the vacuum and radiation of space.
- A Zone Meter on his belt that indicates he can only operate one hundred ten seconds if it flashes to red.
- Meteor Collapse: Double jumping behind an enemy to punch them from behind. Only used in episode 2.
- Astro Dash: Super speed used to escape a fourth dimensional trap inside of a television broadcast. Only used in episode 3.
- Meteor Jet: Emitting jets from the back to help charge in low gravity like on planet Venus. Only used in episode 6.
- Meteor Static Power: Emitting static electricity from the body that targets the source of an enemy's electrical powers. Only used in episode 13.
- Meteor Missile Might: Highly powerful proton missile launchers that appeared on the wrists to finish off the Terror Beasts.
  - Meteor Double Anti-Missile Might: A customized version of the Meteor Missile Might used in episode 22 and was created to counter Super Jikiro's Anti-Missile Might. It's almost similar to the Meteor Missile Might, but it has the ability to retrieve the missile bullets that the enemy has shot back from the muzzle, and can shoot back even more powerful proton missiles.
- Meteor Proton Beam:A powerful destructive beam of concentrated proton energy fired from the zone marker on the forehead. It consumes a large amount of energy so it can only be used when Zone Fighter has enough energy remaining.
- Meteor Slice Shot/Chop: Red wedge-shaped cutter beams that are fired from the hands. They can be used to slice off the enemy's head or weapon.
- Meteor (Dragon) Pinwheel: A technique where Zone Fighter spins at high speed in the air and uses the force to deliver a powerful flying punch to the opponent.
- Meteor Zone Slice: Yellow cutters formed from electricity in Zone Fighter's arms that launch out of the hands that were ideal for maiming. Only used in episode 19.
- Meteor Freezer: Freezing gas released from the tips of his hands.
- Meteor Proton Cut: A concentric beam of light emerged from the chest.
- Meteor Inseki Break: A double jump followed by a punch from behind while plummeting upside down.
- Meteor Static Power: A powerful form of static electricity.
- Astro Dash: An ability used when in life-size to escape from a fourth dimension or through a television cathode ray tube.
- Barriers:
  - Meteor Zone Barrier: A rainbow barrier emitted from the hands. Only used in episode 4.
  - Meteor Reflection Barrier: A pink and white shield shaped energy barrier designed for repulsion emitted from the hands. Only used in episode 6.
  - Zone Barrier: A red barrier emitted from the entire body.

Trivia[]

An interview with Shunsuke Fujita revealed that at one point, Zone Fighter was considered for an appearance in Godzilla: The Game.^{[citation needed]}
Zone Fighter is Toho's second tallest Tokusatsu hero, only being surpassed by Megaloman.
